Felting

Here is a new felted piece that I have been working on, I was inspired by one of the photographs of a field of daisys that I took at Exbury gardens. I felted a background piece in different shades of green and then needle felted in the main daisys.
I am adding more layers to the piece using dissolvable fabric...

Some Finished Work

I lay the embriodered canvas on top of the glossy photo paper to give a 3D affect.
Here are some photo's of a finished piece. The photograph that I have used for this piece was taken in my garden. I decided to leave the glass in this frame but I quite often take it out so that the 3D element to my work is more visible.

Trip to the Isle of Wight

Here are just a few of the photographs that I took..

Yesterday I visited the Isle of Wight with my family. We went to Osbourne House which is beautiful, we walked all around the house and gardens and I photographed some of the flowers and plants to use as inspiration for my next projects. Unfortunately I only had the camera on my phone so not all of my photos came out as I wanted but I did take some which I think I can use...

I am in the process of creating a felted piece, pictures to follow...

Work inspired by Exbury Gardens

I have decided to combine my Photography and Textiles skills together to create a new style of artwork. A day trip to Exbury Gardens provided a wealth of inspiration, I am using photographs that I took as a basis for my current collection of work.

I have been combining my hand embroidery and photography skills to create unique artwork. By printing the photo onto canvas I have been able to highlight features of the plants and flowers with a variety of embroidery stitches. I then print a second copy of the image onto high gloss photo paper and add the stitched canvas on top to create a 3D affect.
